What is a technical comparison?
It is a side-by-side check of two or more technical documents. Most often that is the customer's specification against your own datasheet. It can also be one datasheet against a revised one, or several vendor offers against one requirement set.
A comparison is hard to defend when it loses the document, revision or row behind a value. So each finding keeps its source. See the datasheet vs specification checklist for the checks that take the time.
Which OdysseyGPT tools do this?
| Tool | What it compares | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Document Review | One confirmed base document against the customer or supplier documents you select, in both directions | Generally available |
| Datasheet Comparison | A baseline datasheet against one or more other datasheets, field by field, with units normalised | Beta |
| Technical Bid Evaluation | Several supplier offers against the same customer specification | Beta |
What do you get back?
- One line per matched field or requirement.
- Every material difference, such as a value, material, pressure class or standard edition change.
- Fields present in one document and missing from another.
- The cell, row or page each value came from.
- An export your engineers can edit: Excel for Document Review, CSV or JSON for the beta tools.
The rows that do not comply become your technical deviation list. For a supplier-side check before you bid, see the datasheet vs specification compliance check.
Where do people stay in control?
Your team picks the base document and the documents to compare. The tools never pick a winner between offers, and they do not send anything outside your team. Engineers decide each open item. See OdysseyGPT for manufacturing.
